DOWNTOWN DUBAI

VIDEO PRODUCTION IN DOWNTOWN DUBAI

Burj Khalifa. The Boulevard. Dubai's most recognised backdrop.

Downtown Dubai is the emirate's showcase district — Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, the Boulevard, and a concentration of five-star hotels and corporate headquarters. It is also the most photographed square kilometre in the Middle East, which creates a specific production problem: the obvious shots have all been taken.

Backyard Studio Official produces content across Downtown for corporate clients, hotels, restaurants, retail brands and private clients. We cover corporate films and executive content for Downtown-headquartered businesses, hotel and hospitality content across the district's properties, event coverage at Dubai Opera and hotel ballrooms, and the Burj Khalifa-backdrop work that clients specifically come to Downtown for.

The value of Downtown as a location is instant recognition — a single frame communicates Dubai to a global audience with no explanation needed. The cost is that it is crowded, heavily regulated and expensive to film in properly. Knowing which vantage points are accessible, which require permission, and which times of day are workable is most of the job here.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can you film with the Burj Khalifa in the background?

Yes, and it is one of the most requested shots in Dubai. Which vantage point we use depends on the look you want and what is accessible — some positions are public, others sit on hotel or private property and need permission. We arrange access as part of pre-production rather than turning up and hoping.

How much does video production in Downtown Dubai cost?

Corporate films start from AED 5,500 for a half-day. Event coverage starts from AED 3,000, hotel content packages from AED 6,500, and social content days from AED 2,500. Downtown shoots sometimes carry location or permit costs on top, which we identify upfront rather than after the fact.

Do you need a permit to film in Downtown Dubai?

Commercial filming in Downtown generally requires permission, and the Boulevard, Dubai Mall area and hotel properties each have their own process. Emaar manages much of the district. We handle permit applications in pre-production and build the lead time into the schedule.

Do you cover events at Dubai Opera?

Yes. We cover events at Dubai Opera, Downtown hotel ballrooms and Boulevard venues, typically with multi-camera coverage for conferences, galas and awards. Venue-specific rules on camera positions and lighting are confirmed with the venue before the event.

Can you produce corporate video for Downtown-based companies?

Yes. We produce executive interviews, corporate films, recruitment content and brand films for businesses headquartered in Downtown and the adjacent DIFC area — filmed either in your own offices or at a hotel or studio location.

When is the best time to film in Downtown Dubai?

Early morning gives the cleanest Boulevard and Burj Khalifa shots before crowds build. Blue hour is strongest for the tower and fountain. Midday is difficult — harsh overhead light, heavy footfall, and the hardest window for permits at busy locations.
