Post Production in Dubai: The Part That Makes or Breaks the Video

There is a widespread and costly misconception about video production: that the shoot is the important part and everything that comes after is just technical finishing. Post production is not finishing. It is where the content actually gets made. The best footage in the world, edited badly and graded poorly, produces mediocre content. Average footage, edited with intelligence and skill and graded to a clear visual standard, can produce genuinely excellent content. The ratio of time spent in post to time spent on set for professional production is typically between 3:1 and 10:1.

The Post Production Pipeline

Post production for a corporate video or commercial follows a structured pipeline. Understanding the sequence matters because it determines when decisions can still be changed affordably. Changes at the offline edit stage are essentially free. Changes after colour grade require going back to the edit. Changes after final audio mix require re-mixing. Every stage downstream of the decision point adds cost.

Ingest and Preparation

Raw camera files arrive in various formats: LOG-encoded raw from cinema cameras, ProRes from Sony and Blackmagic cameras, H.264/H.265 from mirrorless and DSLR cameras, drone footage from DJI systems. Our pipeline begins with format assessment, proxy generation, and project organisation before any editing begins.

Offline Editing

The offline edit — the rough cut — is where the story is built. For a three-minute corporate video shot across a full production day, this might involve reviewing 90 minutes of raw interview footage, 30 minutes of B-roll, and 15 minutes of product footage, then assembling a coherent three-minute narrative. The editor makes hundreds of decisions about which moments to keep, where to place each beat, and how to pace the sequence. This is the most creatively demanding part of post production.

Colour Grading

We grade in DaVinci Resolve on a calibrated reference monitor. Primary correction balances exposure, white balance, and contrast across every shot. Secondary correction refines specific elements — improving skin tones, enhancing backgrounds, masking areas for targeted adjustment. Creative grade applies the visual look that serves the content's mood and brand identity.

Audio Post Production

Audio post for corporate content involves: dialogue editing (cleaning up interview and presenter audio, removing room noise and hesitations), music edit (trimming and re-timing licensed music to fit the edit), ambient sound for B-roll, and final mix balancing all audio layers to a consistent output level. For commercial and broadcast content we add Foley, sound effects, and mixing to broadcast loudness specifications.

Motion Graphics and Finishing

After picture lock and audio approval, we add motion graphics: lower thirds, title cards, transitions, branded end frames, and any infographic or data animation in the cut. Built in After Effects and composited into the timeline. Finishing includes technical quality control before export.

Delivery

Final deliverables are prepared in formats appropriate for each platform: MP4 H.264 for web and social, ProRes or H.265 for archival and broadcast, vertical crops for social media, sized-down versions for preview. A single post production project typically generates 5-8 distinct deliverable files.
